Heaven and Earth ****
A Scottish-American (via Notting Hill) country bluesman and fan of JJ Cale and Townes Van Zandt, Ogilvy deserves to win over the fans of his heroes with his third album. Heaven and Earth is so warm, Ogilvy's delivery so laid-back, that you feel as if you could knock it back with a single ice cube in a whisky tumbler. Gems include Stick Around, a sultry pedal-steel number, and Hey Jimmy Shand, a gently rollocking tribute to the Scottish dance-band leader.
